DK7 - Ballistic Car, Second Velocity Component

Objective:

- To demonstrate the second velocity component of a ball vertically accelerated from a moving car.

Apparatus:

• Spring loaded ejection device carriage
• Spherical steel ball

Method:

The ejection mechanism is controlled by a release pin on the cord. When the carriage is pushed along, it will come to the end of the string, releasing the pin and ejecting the ball vertically. The carriage continues on at a constant velocity and the projectile ball lands back on the cart.
